Sa General Trias City Jail, isang Wish Tree ang nagbibigay-daan para mapansin ang kanilang mga munting kahilingan.
Sa pagbisita ni Atom Araullo sa City Jail, nakilala niya ang ilang persons deprived of liberty, o PDL, na sumulat ng mga simpleng hiling na ito.
Isa na riyan ang isang PDL na mahigit dalawang taon nang nakakulong, at tanging antipara lang ang nais niyang matanggap ngayong Pasko.
Ang ilang PDL naman– hindi materyal na mga bagay ang inaasam. Kung hindi oras kasama ang kanilang mga mahal sa buhay na nasa loob ng parehong City Jail.
Para sa bawa’t PDL, kalayaan ang isang kahilingan na hindi agad maiisip na isulat sa papel, ngunit pinagdarasal sa bawa’t araw na lumilipas sa loob ng kulungan.

For those who have been living behind bars for years, it is but a mere dream to have the chance to whisper a wish and hope that it gets granted this Christmas.
At the General Trias City Jail in Cavite, one Wish Tree has been paving the way to do just that– hear out and grant the simple wishes of the persons deprived of liberty or PDLs detained in their facility.
As Atom Araullo visits the City Jail, he gets to know the people behind the wishes on the tree.
He was given a chance to spend time with a PDL who has been serving time for more than two years. His Christmas wish? A pair of reading glasses.
Other PDLs chose to wish for non-material things– two PDLs hoped to spend time with their loved ones who are also serving their sentence in the same City Jail.
For every PDL, freedom is the ultimate wish that one wouldn’t think of writing on a piece of paper, but is fervently prayed for every single day.
